About Boyd Ashworth
I am a custom knifemaker from Powder Springs, Georgia, who began making knives in 1992 and sold my first knife in 1993.
My first knives were standard hunters and folders with natural handle materials and intricate filework. Attending the Jim Batson Knifemaking Symposium fueled my interest in Damascus steel. I began forging my own Damascus steel with a speciality in mosaic damascus. My mosaic damascus turtle folders actually sea turtles swimming in the blades. I also plan to incorporate mosaic penguin damascus with my newest penguin design.
My love of nature is reflected in my knife designs. My "Thomas C. Turtle" knife has won back to back awards at the BLADE Show in 2001 and 2002. My latest design is a penguin folder with other uniquely shaped designs to follow. These animal shaped knives add a unique flair to my knives.
Incorporating my own scrimshawed designs is the newest feature I have added to my knives this year. The unique shape of my knives along with the embellishments of custom mosaic damascus and scrimshaw matching the knife design result in knives that will compliment any knife collection.
